Exhibitor: Franck Girardot

Franck Girardot joins us at the International Cargo Bike Festival to present Vélo Cargo, the first French-language novel to feature the cargo bike and the world of cyclologistics (bicycle delivery), mainly in Paris.

Vélo Cargo is the story of a young man, a poet and an idealist, who dreams of becoming a writer and does odd jobs to earn his living. By chance, he joins a cargo bike delivery company in Paris. Through his eyes and his sensibility, we discover this professional world in its rawest reality, at the heart of the tumult of urban life, with its wealth and promise, but also its drifts and contradictions.

And then, in the background, there is the confrontation of many parallel worlds – Paris, the housing estates, social integration, start-ups, platforms, drug dealers, mafia networks… With the good guys, the naive, the bad guys, the strong, the weak, hope, good intentions and also darker, more violent plans.

In the midst of it all, there are individuals, a team, a project, with a desire to change the world and find their place in it. But not everyone will emerge unscathed.

Franck Girardot is present at the ICBF on Friday 25th October. Alongside an on-stage reading of Vélo Cargo, he will also be selling copies of the book at stand 12.
