The current form of urban deliveries provides a great deal of inconvenience to the users of the public space, and will have a negative impact on the quality of life and the experience of the city. Due to the increase in the number of inhabitants of the city, and the number of online orders, it is expected that this inconvenience will only increase. In addition, the community will come up with an alternative to the current urban deliveries to achieve its own ambition with regard to an emission free city centre in the year 2025.
One of the alternatives is to apply the cargo bike within the city distribution, but what are the effects of this on the town and the extent to which does the city centre of Groningen lend itself for the use of the cargo bike? In this presentation I will discuss the difficulties that the city of Groningen can face regarding the infrastructure and the city’s policies and how to deal with these difficulties.
