Rio de Janeiro, here we come!

Tom Parr and Jos Sluijsmans of the International Cargo Bike Festival will be participating and presenting at the “2º Encontro Carioca de Bicicletas de Carga” in Rio de Janeiro, 15 & 16 September 2023 organised by Ze Lobo / “Transporte Ativo”.

The longstanding involvement of Transporte Ativo with cycle logistics and cargo bikes has taken them to the International Cargo Bike Festival in Nijmegen 2017 (ICBF Magazine p. 24-25) and Amsterdam 2022. This was where the idea arose to hold such a mini festival in Rio de Janeiro, to enable those interested here to have information about cycling around the world. At the same time, foreign visitors can personally experience something that already happens here and is surprising for Europeans.

That moment has arrived! Transporte Ativo  are going to bring up this topic of great importance for the improvement of our large urban centers, still little known and explored in Brazil, although already so present, by making an exchange with the organizers of the International Cargo Bike Festival. With presentations and exchange of information between those involved in Cycle Logistics, last mile deliveries, decarbonization of transport and cleaner and more efficient cities, the event has as its target audience: technicians and managers from the City of Rio, students of Urbanism, Transport, Researchers , people involved in promoting bicycle mobility and those interested in the subject.

In addition to the participation of the organizers of the International Cargo Bike Festival, there will be presentations on the pilot project with Cargo Bikes in the Low Emission District in partnership with the ECF and EPL – Planning Office of the City of Rio de Janeiro, a round of conversation / debate with the theme “Cargo Bicycles and Cycle Logistics · Challenges and Perspectives” and the delivery of the “10th Promoting Mobility by Bicycles in Brazil Award“.

The “2nd Carioca Meeting of Cargo Bikes”, has the support and partnership of Itaú Unibanco, Consulate General of the Netherlands in Rio, Municipal Secretary of Labor and Income and of the Planetário, venue of the meeting that will take place on September 15 and 16, 2023 .

Book the date, register and check out the schedule at the website of Transporte Ativo
