The RAD15 Tornado35 cargo bike rim

– Advertorial content –

And now for something completely different: introducing the RAD15 Tornado35 cargo bike rim.

Now that the word ‘cargo’ has become involved with the bicycle, the bike industry is quickly realising that there needs to be a complete rethink about functionality and durability.

As a young, small company, rim manufacturer RAD15 is immediately at the forefront of the development of cargo bike solutions. After introducing the already very strong Storm26 and Storm33 rims, RAD15 is taking the aluminium bicycle rim to the next level and is proud to introduces the unique Tornado35 rim.

RAD15 took a good look at the demands for a modern cargo bike rim and came up with a radical new approach. Taking what works mixed with experience and new insights. Well, just look at it, there is nothing similar among bicycle rims!

The added thickness of the extremely fat bottom allows higher loads, easily carrying up to 300kg for the transported cargo. The wider bottom also allows offset drilling of the spoke holes, up to 6 mm! This will suit a lot of hub motors with an offset hub shell geometry and will bring the maximum spoke tension down to regular levels. The more evenly spread spoke tension also makes for a stronger, more durable wheel.

At the top of the Tornado35 you will find a wider surface on the sidewalls, which help to avoid pinch flats. The wider sidewalls are also stronger against denting.

RAD15’s speciality is in the spoke drilling. Since we drill every hole individually, RAD15 can drill any spoke pattern, number of holes and hole size on request. Our small scale production also allows for almost any rim diameter. RAD15 can deliver even single rims on request.

The Tornado35 is available in 20”, 22” (ETRTO 484), 24” (507 mm), 26” (559 mm) and 27,5” (584 mm). Internal width of the rim is 35 mm, which will suit bicycle cargo tyres from 50 to 80 mm. Consumer price stands at €129,-.

Request can be send to info@rad15.bike and more information will soon be available at www.rad15.bike.
